Lewandowski taks Barcelona vs Napoli, Pau Cubarsi, Fermin Lopez ahead of UCL clash

In a recent interview with TVP Sport (h/t Diario SPORT), Robert Lewandowski has discussed multiple topics around Barcelona ahead of the new week, including the upcoming contest against Napoli.

Lewandowski also talked about Pau Cubarsi and Lamine Yamal’s exceptional form along with his own transformation over the past four-five years.

“I have changed in the last four or five years. Honestly, life has taught me a lot. I changed clubs and I can make conclusions,” Lewandowski said about his changing persona.

“Recently I have a different point of view on certain things, issues you can’t understand from reading a book,” he added.

Shifting focus back to football, Lewandowski offered a practical view on the upcoming game against Napoli.

“Napoli have their problems, but the tie will depend on us,” said Lewandowski, whose comments come shortly after reports of optimism in the Napoli camp, especially following the injuries of Pedri and Frenkie de Jong last week.

“If we play our football, we will beat Napoli and advance to the next round of the Champions League,” the forward added.

Lewandowski also talked about Barcelona’s recent form, stating, “Two weeks ago, we started to train harder, more intense. We’re playing better recently. It’s time to show that we can compete against anyone.”

Lewandowski on Barcelona youngsters

Apart from the Napoli clash, Lewandowski also shared his view on some of the bright young stars at Barcelona, including Pau Cubarsi.

The young centre-back has become an overnight star in Spanish football following his blazing performances in recent weeks. In fact, Spanish football has not ruled out his possible entry into the upcoming European Championship.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a centre-back pass the ball in triangles so calmly like Cubarsí, especially at his age. And he’s a great guy too,” said Lewandowski, who also heaped praise on Fermin Lopez.

“Fermín is a kid who likes to work, and he can progress a lot,” the striker added, before going on to warn the youngsters about the risks posed by social media and other modern-day distractions.

“The youngsters should be ready to react if things get worse. It’s a new generation. Now you have Instagram, with all the social media, it’s difficult. They can’t escape it. That’s their challenge, to take 10 or 12 years of the very top-flight football mentally,” he said.
