Bayern Munich were interested in Barcelona’s €1 billion superstar a few months ago – report

Barcelona no longer have many untouchable stars in their squad. For a club in deep financial crisis, the Catalans, for a few years, were not ready to offload a lot of their players, deeming them too important to the project and the future.

Now, however, it seems after years of trying and failing, Barça are no longer that rigid with their players. Some of them may need to go to help the club as they enter yet another transfer window with little to no hopes of signing anyone.

That said, the club still has three players that have been deemed absolutely ‘untouchable’. This includes defensive stalwart Ronald Araujo, the gritty Gavi, and midfield general Pedri.

All three of them are incredibly important to Barcelona’s project, and are undoubted starters when fit. And it seems highly unlikely that the club will let them go even if someone were to pay well over their transfer value.

It was reported on the back of this that Bayern Munich were interested in signing Pedri a few months ago, as per SPORT.

Concrete interest in Araujo

Bayern seem highly appreciative of Barcelona’s squad. Their interest goes beyond just Pedri. In fact, if anything, Araujo is their no. 1 target, and they are ready to shell out €100 million for his services if need be.

Thomas Tuchel is a huge fan of the player, and considers that he can fix their defensive issues seamlessly. Unfortunately, Barcelona are not ready to sell him; neither in the winter window, nor in the summer.

The Bavarians are expected to return for him in the summer with a bigger offer, and if they manage to convince Araujo to join their team, the tides could turn on Barcelona, who will likely not be able to say no to a bid worth over €100 million.
