Barcelona considering bringing back Mexican player Julian Araujo for next season

Barcelona face a pressing issue for the upcoming season: the right-back position. With Joao Cancelo as the only natural full-back, Xavi has been rotating between Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, and Sergi Roberto depending on the game.

However, Sergi Roberto’s contract is expiring, and the club is unlikely to renew it despite his captain status. Instead, they are looking for younger options, such as the promising Mexican Julian Araujo.

The club’s priority is to retain Joao Cancelo, whose loan deal from Manchester City ends on June 30th.

However, his price tag of around 30 million euros poses a financial challenge for Barcelona. On the other hand, Sergino Dest, who is currently on loan at PSV, is also unlikely to return, as the Dutch club has an option to buy him.

What is the alternative for Barcelona?

Another option for Barcelona is Hector Fort, who can play in both right-back and left-back positions.

The technical department has confidence in him, but a loan move is also a possibility. Additionally, Araujo’s impressive performances for the Mexican national team, where he has already played 17 games and scored a goal, make him a promising prospect for Barcelona.

Araujo’s contract has belonged to Barcelona since January, but he was not registered for this season and was loaned to Las Palmas to gain experience in LaLiga EA Sports. With his potential and versatility, Araujo could be a valuable addition to Barcelona’s squad for the upcoming season.
