Barcelona proposed the idea of replacing Xavi with Juventus coach, not a priority right now

Just over a month since Xavi announced his resignation, Barcelona are already neck-deep with potential names that could replace him as the coach.

Hansi Flick and Roberto De Zerbi seem to the priority candidates, with the Barcelona board trying to reach a consensus among them. Neither of the two coaches have been approached yet, though.

Elsewhere, Barcelona are also weighing up other names such as Julian Nagelsmann, who is currently coaching the German National Team.

Within La Liga, Girona’s Michel and Real Sociedad’s Imanol Alguacil were also linked, but it seems both coaches will continue at their respective clubs at least until the end of next season.

And if reports from Santi Aouna, in February Barcelona were proposed the option of Massimiliano Allegri as a replacement for Xavi. He is not a priority for the club as of now, though.

Allegri was at Juventus for five years, from 2014 to 2019, reaching two Champions League finals with them – losing one each to Barcelona and Real Madrid.

He was, however, replaced with Maurizio Sarri in 2019, but after a failed stint for the Italian in Turin, Juventus eventually brought back Allergi to the club in 2021, where he has been since.

His Juve side currently sit second in the Serie A table, 18 points off Inter Milan, who seem on their way to the Scudetto for the second time in four years after losing the title to AC Milan and Napoli in the last two years.

As successful a coach Allegri is, his football philosophy does not align with Barcelona at all. It will be a bold, and possibly wrong call to appoint the 56-year-old as the head coach at the Camp Nou.
