Arsenal ‘interested’ in signing ‘perfect’ midfielder for free, but he wants Barcelona

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, though the Juventus star prefers a move to FC Barcelona.

The France international has enjoyed a transformative 18 months, with Rabiot doing a complete 180 in his career from Juventus and Les Bleus outcast to a key player for both club and country. Now, his form could also lead to a free transfer to Arsenal this summer.

Described as ‘the perfect midfielder’, the 28-year-old’s contract with Juventus is due to expire this summer, with a move to the Premier League potentially on the cards for Rabiot this year.

And according to Tutto Juve, Arsenal are interested in signing Rabiot alongside Newcastle United, though the midfielder himself prefers a move to La Liga giants Barcelona.

With Rabiot in the prime of his career, the former PSG star will have his pick of clubs this summer if the midfielder does indeed decide to leave Turin for a new chapter in his career.

And with Arsenal interested in Rabiot, there’s a small chance that Mikel Arteta could actually move to sign the Juventus maestro, especially with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny expected to leave north London.

Indeed, the departure of two midfielders with hefty salaries could open a space for Arsenal to move for Rabiot. Yet Barcelona’s interest is clearly going to be an issue for the north London side.

Arsenal’s reputation and standing on the global stage is as high as it has been in some years, with Arteta bringing prestige back to the north London side.

And for the Gunners, the should feel confident in their ability to sign a top player like Rabiot, who could have his head swayed to join Arsenal over Barcelona this summer.

The project is there, the manager is there and the players are there, and Rabiot could soon be tempted to swap Turin for north London if Arsenal work fast enough.
