Barcelona have not made any proposal for €70 million-rated Real Madrid target – Romano

Earlier today, reports emerged claiming that Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich had reached a verbal agreement with Real Madrid, days after it was claimed that his agent had held a meeting with Barcelona director Deco.

Indeed, Davies’ representative, Nedal Huoseh, was in Barcelona earlier this month and held talks with the Barça transfer chief, although the details of the said meeting have been kept under wraps.

Barcelona never made a proposal

Now, though, amid rumours of an agreement with Real Madrid, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Barcelona have never made a proposal for Davies.

While it might be true that there may have been some tentative interest in the 23-year-old left-back, whose market value stands at €70 million, there has been no offer or proposal from the reigning La Liga champions.

The update from Romano adds that Real Madrid have been the preferred destination for the Canadian international since October and personal terms are not expected to be an issue.

As such, Barça’s tentative interest would not have changed things much, while the financial side of things would also be prohibitive for the Catalans.

Instead, Barcelona will continue to count on Alejandro Balde as their first-choice left-back for the future. The 20-year-old is currently out injured and will not play for the rest of the season, but has the full confidence of the club.

A new left-back might be needed in the summer, though, with Marcos Alonso set to be on his way out as his contract expires in June.

Sergi Cardona of Las Palmas, who will be a free agent, has been linked while the possibility of integrating Alex Valle, currently on loan at Levante, is not ruled out either.
