Barcelona €100 million midfielder open to offers in the summer window, PSG interested

Barcelona’s priority heading into the summer transfer window will be offloading players so they can raise money to fix other problems in the team.

After failing to sign a replacement for Sergio Busquets in the pivot position, and then only being able to afford loan deals for Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix for right-back and left-wing, Barcelona also have those concerns looming over their heads.

With most of the team built around young superstars with an incredible market value, Barcelona cannot afford to let go of someone who may be crucial to their future, like Gavi, Pedri, or Ronald Araujo.

On the other hand, someone like Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, or Frenkie de Jong have been deemed expendable assets.

The Dutchman, especially, has been linked to an exit in recent weeks, and according to a report from Roger Torello, he is open to offers in the summer transfer window.

PSG are one of the parties interested in signing him, and are ready to send in a huge bid to lure him into leaving Barcelona. They know that the player is in two minds about his future, and want to use this as a bidding opportunity.

Barcelona, meanwhile, would be happy to retain de Jong’s services, but want him to sign a contract extension that slashes his wages for the foreseeable future. The player is the highest-paid player in the squad by some margin.

The other option for the Dutchman is to leave, and Barcelona are happy to let him go if an offer in the region of €100 million comes in.

The onus is now on de Jong, who could move to PSG, where they are happy to pay him the wages he is on currently at Barça, or move to the Premier League, where the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in his signature.
