Barcelona’s new transfer strategy to recruit young talents from Brazil – report

Barcelona seem to have found a new way to tackle the ongoing battle with Financial Fair Play. According to SPORT, the Blaugrana are sending scouts to Brazil to keep track of those players who are yet to appear in the first-division league.

If deemed suitable, the team from Catalonia will continue to follow those players as this approach is likely to cost them very little compared to high-profile transfers and on the other hand, the competition in the market will be very limited as well.

The work has already begun

According to the outlet, Barcelona have significantly ramped up its focus on the Brazilian territory, recognized as a raw market for budding young talents.

In fact, it is said that over the past few weeks, a scout from the club’s talent-hunting department has been actively participating in the Sao Paulo Junior Cup, a renowned youth tournament, to gain insights into the emerging talent within the youth ranks of the South American football powerhouse.

This tournament holds a lot of value as back in 2022, the Barcelona technical staff identified Vitor Roque, then a 16-year-old talent showcasing his skills at Cruzeiro. 

After a thorough two-year evaluation, the 18-year-old striker has emerged as the sole addition to Xavi’s Barcelona squad in the ongoing winter transfer market.

Now, it is obvious that Barcelona are facing financial constraints in player acquisitions, and for that, they have strategically shifted their approach in Brazil, as well as other key South American markets. 

The primary objective here is to proactively outpace European competitors by identifying and securing promising young talents, often before they make their debut in the Brazilian Serie A. 

Through this, the Blaugrana aim to overcome challenges and unearth footballers with untapped potential very early in their careers.
