Barcelona defender could move to Atletico Madrid in swap deal involving Joao Felix

Veteran defender Inigo Martinez has been a valuable addition to Barcelona, providing solid support for the team. Despite occasional injuries causing some concern, the former Athletic Bilbao man has consistently performed well.

Now 32, Martinez is in his first season with Barcelona and is contracted until 2025.

Although he initially struggled for regular game time, Martinez fully integrated into the team during the season, and rather impressively so.

Atletico Madrid’s interest is solid

The reporter mentions that Atletico Madrid have Martinez on their radar for a while, especially with Mario Hermoso likely leaving at the end of the season. On the other hand, Caglar Soyuncu left in January and Jose Maria Gimenez is having trouble with fitness.

The transfer involving Martinez could be made possible thanks to a certain Joao Felix, who is not wanted at Atletico.
